Mahāyoga Practitioner Training

6 Month Practitioner Training

Advanced Immersion Program in Mahāyoga Teachings, Practices, and Culture for committed seekers.

11/22–6/6 · 2026–2027

Let's make yoga mystical again!

This six-month Practitioner Training is the crown jewel of Harshada's offerings for committed seekers. Spiritual training is not meant to be a short-term engagement. We take six months to dig in, do the work on ourselves, and really learn—while our relationships, our work, and our bodies continue to be in the mix.

The centerpiece of this year's training is the Mahāyoga tradition: a mystical and profoundly practical approach that weaves together Tantra, Bhakti, Vedānta, Patañjali, Haṭha Yoga, Jñāna Yoga, and meditation practices often called Rāja Yoga.

The Goal

A soul-centered, empowered life in the world.

The training is an opportunity to connect deeply with your own inner truth, clearly with the Divine as you understand it, and get free from whatever is holding you back from being deeply happy, free, and ready to serve your world in the highest way.

Harshada will initiate trainees into meditation, mantra, ritual, breathwork, awareness practices, and the root teachings where those practices come from. Many trainees are teachers or want to be teachers, but this is not a teacher training as such.

Not a Teacher Training

The training sets you up to be a carrier of wisdom and servant of love in any situation. Maybe you are a dharma teacher or healer. Maybe you are a visionary parent, an entrepreneur, or someone in recovery with a vision for a wisdom-driven life. Only you know how you will share what you learn.

Harshada has been working with the classical wisdom teachings of the Indian mystical tradition for more than 30 years. Trainees are carefully selected according to their readiness and willingness to commit to their own development, along with a vision for how they will share what they learn.

“One from whom the world does not shrink, and who does not shrink from the world; who is free from delight, intolerance, fear, and agitation—such a one is dear to Me.”

Bhagavad Gītā 12.15

This is the voice of the Divine in the Bhagavad Gītā. We uplift the world we live in without being crushed by it. We cultivate freedom in our minds, hearts, bodies, and lives and radiate that freedom wherever we go.

The curriculum

Our six month training has six sections:

Each month has its own focus, while the whole training remains one continuous practice of awakening and integration.

01

Initiation

Mahāyoga is based on the awakening of the Kuṇḍalinī Śakti—our innate spiritual intelligence. We begin with relationship: sādhana, the Mahāyoga mantras, the lineages, Yama and Niyama, and an anti-oppressionist spirituality.

02

Mahāyoga Sādhana

We learn how to cultivate a consistent, sincere, and deeply enjoyable practice. Abhyāsa, Vairāgya, Upāya, and svādhyāya become practical tools for making the practices our own and helping others do the same.

03

Mystical Anatomy

We study the Four Bodies, the Fourfold Psychic Instrument, the Seven Chakras, the Six Kośas, and Harshada’s teachings on the Three Hearts—maps that describe and organize the same inner terrain.

04

The Sādhana of Transformation

We work with Saṁskāras, Vāsanās, the three types of Karma, virtues from the Bhagavad Gītā, and the self-work that helps us stay grounded instead of falling into spiritual bypass or becoming spiritual ding-dongs.

05

Bhakti Yoga

We explore Nirguṇa and Saguṇa Bhakti, learning how to be devoted to the Divine without confining it to a box. Nāmasaṅkīrtana, Sevā, the Bhakti and Sufi poets, and Sanskrit texts open the path of devotion.

06

Living Mahāyoga

We bring yoga into every aspect of life through teachings on Sahaja Samādhi, classical Tantric Yoga, and the Mahāyoga Bodhisattva. Diet, sleep, sexuality, movement, and exercise all become part of the conversation.

The teachings

Ancient texts. Living practice.

Over the six months, Harshada teaches from traditional Sanskrit scriptures and ecstatic poetic traditions, weaving together Tantra, Vedānta, Bhakti, Yoga, and contemporary success-mindset philosophy. The teachings and practices are made alive and relevant for us and the people we serve.

Each month includes reading, and the classes are based around key verses from source texts and essential sacred poetry.

  • Bhagavad Gītā and Jñāneśvar Mahārāj’s commentary on the Gītā
  • Nityānanda’s Chidākāśa Gītā
  • Śiva Sūtra
  • Nārada Bhakti Sūtra
  • Aṣṭāvakra Saṁhitā
  • Patañjali Yoga Sūtra
  • Sacred poetry from Rūmī, Kabīr, Mīrābāī, and others

The Mechanics of the Training

How It Works

The power of this training comes from sustained commitment. There will be weeks off and rest days, but what changes you is showing up, day after day, for yourself and the work.

Group sessions

Three Sundays a month

Interactive online classes with ample time for questions and discussion, plus office hours as needed.

Home practice

30–60 minutes a day

Participants commit to daily practice, assigned readings and exercises, group dialogues, and the steady work of integration.

Mentorship

1:1 training sessions

One-to-one training sessions with Harshada happen once or three times per month, depending on your level of enrollment.

Trainees will learn practices for their bodies, minds, and subtle awareness and how to work with sacred teachings in a powerful, no b.s. way. Trainees receive a discount incentive to join a retreat with Harshada in India. Participation in the India retreats is not required but STRONGLY encouraged.

This is not an āsana instructor training. Āsana will be one of the practices you are encouraged to do, and we will learn about the place of Haṭha Yoga within the broader Mahāyoga landscape.

The community

Anti-oppressionist Spirituality

We strive to stand for freedom and against oppression in all of its forms. We recognize that modern expressions of spirituality can become escapism, promote "spiritual by bypass", or contribute to racism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, or colonialism.

Ours is a life-positive, queer-positive, sex-positive, shadow-positive, anti-racist, anti-fascist community. We stand against religious and spiritual sectarianism, and we learn about power dynamics within spiritual groups and how disempowerment, and cult dynamics, and other toxic patterns can emerge in spiritual community.

Harshada leads as a fellow student of the work, taking responsibility for service through leadership rather than from a place of superiority.
